Character Appreciation Post #8: Widdershins

Name: Widdershins
Also known as: Adrienne Satti, Colette d’Arnville, Madeleine

Series: Covenant Chronicles / Widdershins Adventures

Author: Ari “Mouseferatu” Marmell

Background: Widdershins, once known as Adrienne Satti, is an orphan whose entire family was murdered in cold blood. Widdershins roams the back alleys and dark corners of her home city of Davillon. On the run from the human and supernatural forces that want her dead, Widdershins survives by her wit and skill, and more than a little help from her own personal god, Olgun.

Characteristics: Just the right combination of reckless and lethal, Widdershins is a force to be reckoned with. She is infinitely clever and can think her way out of just about any tricky situation. But she’s a bit naive, too, especially in social situations. Shins has a quick wit, a fondness for making up her own curse words, and a list of enemies longer than she is tall.

“It was one of the primary rules of thievery. When hiding, sneaking, and trickery are all out, the correct answer is “run like hell.”

“No, it’s not the same thing as showing off! The idea isn’t to impress people, it’s to…differently…impress people. For different…Oh, shut up.”

“A true lady should have the wit and the imagination, or at least the very restraint, to express herself without resorting herself to such base vocabulary.”

“Shall we do this already? Or have we come to our senses and decided that this is all really, really stupid? I know it was my idea! That’s why I get to decide if it’s stupid! Trust me, I know a stupid idea when I have one! Just, maybe not right away…If you say one thing about me having a lot of practice, I’m leaving you here and you can walk home. And stop looking at me like that.”

“Shins? What’s the signal if you  need help?” – Cyrille

“Screaming,” she said over her shoulder. “Lots of screaming. Probably breaking things. Sometimes, there’s fire.” – Widdershins
