The Lunar Chronicles

Cinder is a retelling of Cinderella – sort of – set in a futuristic Earth with pseudo-alien baddies, cybernetics, and not your typical love story. Scarlet is the follow-up, in which you meet the titular Scarlet and follow her adventures with Wolf to find her grandmother and discover the secrets of her and Cinder’s pasts. For a preview of Cress check out the first chapter right here! I am so, so excited for it.

Cress is book 3 in The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Book 1 is Cinder and book 2 is Scarlet. They are 2 of my fave new YA books from the past year. I literally salivated on my copy of Scarlet and read it in a day. Okay, I didn’t actually do that, but I really loved it.

I would recommend this series to anyone who loves modern re-tellings of classics and fairy tales, who wants atypical teenage love stories, or who likes science fiction and fantasy. Really anyone who likes series of YA fiction would find something to like in The Lunar Chronicles: adventure, romance, mystery, family drama, technology, aliens, science fiction, fairy tales, myths, history. Meyer has really created a masterful world with incredible characters that you  just can’t get enough of!
